Michelle Murray Headlines concert for First Annual RIDE for Able Forces – September 11th Event – Winchester, VA

On September 10th 2011 Michelle Murray and crew departed Nashville for Winchester,Virginia to headline the first annual “Able Forces September 11th Event”. The concert and festivities took place at the Grove’s Winchester Harley Davidson Dealership and included a motorcycle rally, games, raffles, and food. Several acts took to the outdoor stage prior to Michelle’s performance, including the talented group Phoenix Drive based out of Atlanta, Georgia .

Guts & Glory Motorsports sponsored the two hour motorcycle ride through the scenic Shenandoah Valley. The most moving part of the day came with the playing of TAPS as we honored Specialist Douglas J. Green who was killed in action on September 10th 2011 and became the 737th name placed on Tim Wright’s Fallen Hero’s Wall.

When Michelle took the stage, she was joined by Grammy Nominated and SESAC Songwriter of the Year, Sam Tate. Sam played guitar during Michelle’s set. “It’s always a pleasure to be around Sam. He’s such a talented, passionate songwriter and I was thrilled to share the stage and sing his hits with him. He also was a fabulous host for this heartfelt day.”  Michelle and her band then treated the crowd by accompanying Sam as the band played a few of Sam’s #1 hits including “If Your Going Through Hell” and “Moments”.

Several of Michelle’s family and friends attended the concert including Michelle’s aunt, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, nephews and some close friends. It certainly was an emotional and thankful weekend that reminded us of the sacrifice that so many have made. Michelle also honored her husband’s grandfather, Thomas J. Murray Sr., and wore his FDNY badge as a necklace to honor the sacrifice he made as a New York City Firefighter more than 60 years ago to lay down his life for someone else. He was just 41 years old.  The concert ended with Michelle inviting Phoenix Drive back to the stage to perform a song Sam wrote as a tribute to the brave men and women of the Armed Services called “Thanks To You”.

It was a truly memorable weekend filled with the emotions that only September 11th can bring. From honoring the sacrifice of those first responders at Ground Zero, to the hero’s that died in a field in Shanksville, PA , to the soldiers who have fought and died in the name of freedom for the decade since; September 11th will forever become the symbol of the resilience for our great nation.

The entire weekend was filmed by Sunrise Entertainment and is slated to become the premiere episode of Michelle’s reality TV series, “Long Road To Fame”.

Michelle Murray traveled to Clemson, South Carolina to see the Clemson Tigers take on the 2010 defending BCS National Champions; Auburn Tigers.  The visit to Clemson was filmed and will be featured in an Episode of Michelle’s reality television series, “Long Road To Fame.”

The day started out cold and overcast as Michelle and the family arrived in Clemson around 8:00 AM.  The Murray’s were greeted by Cathy Sams, Chief Public Affairs Officer, and escorted to their reserved parking space in the shadow of one of Clemson University’s landmark buildings, Tillman Hall.  They spent the next several hours walking around campus and shopping at the many unique businesses on University Blvd. including a stop at Mr. Knickerbockers to purchase some Game Day apparel.

Prior to kickoff, Michelle, Tom and the kids enjoyed the amazing Tiger hospitality, tailgating with fans, and watching the Tiger Marching band perform.   ”This was the first time my kids had been to Clemson and they absolutely loved it. I was so impressed with the hospitality and spirit from the staff and families to the students; they made us feel so welcome and we were thrilled to be there, especially since it was my husband’s Alma Mater! We were excited to see them win!” We had the opportunity to watch “The Most Exciting 25 Seconds in College Football,” as Brent Musburger puts it, as the Tigers rubbed Howard’s Rock and ran down the Hill.  The view from the President’s Skybox completely captivated the kids as they enjoyed all of the Clemson themed foods, especially the chocolate covered tiger paw ice cream bars!  Michelle was welcomed by University President James F. Barker and several members of the Clemson University Board of Trustees while watching the first half of the game.  David Dryden, Creative Services Director also provided the Murray’s with choice seats near midfield that just had to be experienced.  The Murray’s watched the second half from field level as the Tigers pulled off a 14 point come from behind victory that afternoon.

The sun had finally broken through the clouds and turned out to be a beautiful day in the Valley.  After the game the groundskeepers allowed the kids to spend a little quality family time sliding down the Hill on cardboard sleds.

2011 became one of the most exciting seasons in Clemson Football history as the tigers captured their first ACC Championship in 20 years and earned a birth to the Discover Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida.  “We will definitely be cheering on the Clemson Tigers as they take on the West Virginia, Mountaineers on January 4th, 2012!”

Michelle performance on National Television on Sunday concluded a jammed packed three day roller coaster of a weekend, that included two benefit concerts, three appearances, one National Television appearance and the filming of an Episode of her TV Series “Long Road To Fame”.  While fighting of an illness that left her youngest child, Madeline in their hotel room for the majority of the weekend.  There was even a late night boarder crossing  from Indiana to Kentucky to get a bottle of children’s fever reducer the night before the race.

Michelle’s two benefit concerts were held at Belterra Resort Casino, just across the river in Florence, Indiana and at Elk Creek Vineyard in Owenton, Kentucky.  Both Concerts were to benefit the Chris Griffis Family Fund.  Chris was the team manager of the Sam Schmidt Motorsports Indy Lights team.  Chris passed away unexpectedly on September 12th, 2011.  He is survived by his wife, Mari, and two daughters.
